A crossbite is a common dental problem caused due to misaligned teeth. In such a situation, your upper teeth close ahead of your lower teeth and both the rows of teeth do not line up correctly when you close your mouth.

crowded Teeth
Crowded teeth

When the jaw is not big enough to accommodate all the teeth, it leads to teeth getting bunched up, increasing the risk of gum disease and tooth decay. Our aligners can help you mitigate these issues.

Teeth gap
Teeth Gap

This condition arises when there is unusual space between teeth causing food to get stuck in the spaces. Closing this gap is easy with our Aligners.

overbite
Overbite

The upper teeth close far out in front of the lower teeth which causes the jaw to ache. Our aligners will push them back to perfection, relieving you of all discomfort.

Deep Bite
Deep Bite

This happens when the upper front teeth disproportionately overlap the bottom front teeth when the back teeth are closed causing discomfort. Our aligners help solve this problem.

Open bite
Open Bite

When the upper and lower front teeth don't touch each other when the mouth is fully closed, displaying an opening, it is called an ‘Open Bite’. This can be easily corrected with our aligner treatment.

Frequently asked questions

01

What is a crossbite?

Crossbite is a type of misalignment where the upper teeth come ahead of your lower teeth when you shut your mouth.

02

What are the types of crossbites?

There are two groups of crossbite: anterior and posterior.
An anterior crossbite is when the group of front teeth in the bottom fit over the teeth of your top jaw. A posterior crossbite is when the lower teeth toward the back of your mouth fit over the teeth in your top jaw.

03

What happens if I don’t treat a crossbite?

If you leave your crossbite untreated, it may lead to overall oral and health problems such as decaying teeth, loose teeth, cavities, receding gums, enamel breakdown, difficulty in eating and chewing, headaches and temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD).

04

What causes a crossbite?

A crossbite is generally caused by a skeletal problem or dental problem, or a combination of both. These problems can be caused due to personal habits, bone structure problems, tooth growth delays, upper airway problems, or genetics.

05

What are the various treatment options for a crossbite?

  • Aligners – transparent and removable plastic trays that are firmly fitted on your teeth and apply pressure gradually, achieving the perfect position over time

  • Braces – using metal brackets and wires to push your teeth to the desired position

  • Retainers – these are customised devices made of wires or clear plastic to hold teeth in position after an alignment treatment

  • Removable palate expanders – appliance attached to upper teeth to slowly widen the jaw and palate

  • Elastics prescribed by an orthodontist

  • Jaw surgery in the case of a severe crossbite condition

06

Why are clear aligners the preferred crossbite treatment?

These invisible aligners are more suited than other traditional forms of dental treatments. They are invisible, removable, and show quick results with fewer visits. A minor crossbite can be treated in about three months, while a severe case may take up to a year and a half.
